Suzanne Laurie, Midlife Coach, MSc, BSc (Hons)

A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Suzanne.

Like most midlife women, I don’t remember the last time I wasn’t busy. Until recently, I ran my own company, whilst raising two small children and managing a home. As a wellness professional I tried to squeeze in as much self-care as possible but that was never as much as I would have liked and was always accompanied by a side of emotional eating/drinking when the stress got too much. Which was often!

Yet my energy was good, I could power through with a smile on my face, and didn’t suffer from many obvious health consequences.

Until midlife.

Perimenopause crept up on me in my early forties and I was unprepared. I’d never had a migraine in my life before, or brain fog that left me speechless – simply because I couldn’t remember what I was about to say. I also became a full-time single mum, suffered a major career/financial blow and was watching my mum slowly succumb to Alzheimer’s.

I realised quickly that I couldn’t keep doing what I was doing if I wanted to stay well. And that I either crumpled under the weight of what life had thrown at me, or I used them as a catalyst to reinvent myself and my future. So I dug deep, grieved my losses, reconnected with myself and figured out what the heck I wanted my next chapter to look like.

That’s when a degree in nutrition and a masters in Positive Psychology come in handy! I made it my mission to thrive in the face of adversity, to use all the tools I had built over 20 years and see what worked most effectively. I studied, I experimented and I coached myself.

And here I am, your midlife coach.

I can genuinely say I am thriving. And I now plan to help as many other women as possible emerge from the upheaval of midlife and menopause stronger, healthier, happier and the most comfortable they have ever been in their own skin.
